Independent Junior Research Group
RNA BIOLOGY
We are seeking to strengthen our research activities at the interface of RNA
biology and infectious diseases by establishing a new junior research group at
the Institute for Molecular Infection Biology and the Helmholtz Institute for RNABased
Infection Research (HIRI) in Würzburg, Germany. Major research topics
of interest are:
- Single-cell RNA analysis of the complexity and heterogeneity of infection
processes
- Regulatory RNAs with essential roles in pathogenesis
- RNA-based mechanisms in virulence and host defense
- RNA structure profiling, RNA modifications and RNA localization
- Delivery techniques for RNA-based interventions
- Exploiting RNA for new diagnostics, preventives and anti-infectives
We are looking to recruit an individual with outstanding postdoctoral
experience and international recognition in the above fields. Ideally, the
candidate should also be eligible for a Helmholtz Young Investigator Group.
The appointment will be for a period of 3+3 years. Salary (E14/15) will be
commensurate with training and experience. The position includes laboratory
operating expenses and salaries for additional personnel, laboratory space
with bio-containment,molecular imaging,RNAhigh-throughput genomics, and
animal facilities. See
www.helmholtz-hiri.de and
www.imib-wuerzburg.de for more information. Informal inquiries can be made to
Professor Jörg Vogel (
joerg.vogel@uni-wuerzburg.de).
Interested individuals should submit a one-page description of their research
interests and future directions,CVand publication list, together with the names of
three academic references
by February 25, 2018. We may request that shortlisted
candidates provide a more detailed research proposal at a later date.
Preference will be given to people with disabilities in the case of otherwise equal
aptitude. The University aims to increase the proportion of female employees,
therefore applications from qualified women are particularly welcome.
Applications should be sent
via Email to Dr. Nina-Vanessa Littwin (
nina-vanessa.littwin@helmholtz-hiri.de), addressing the Acting Director of the
HIRI, Prof. Jörg Vogel.
