The Technical University of Munich (TUM) invites applications for the position as
Professor in »Architecture and Building Construction«
to begin in winter semester 2020/21 or later by mutual agreement. The position is a W2 fixed-term position (6 years) with tenure track option to a tenured W3 position (Associate Professor) or a tenured W3 (Associate or Full) position.
The professorship belongs to the TUM Department of Architecture. We design systems, structures and spaces. Our vision is to successfully combine design practice with research. The department is well-connected with the engineering disciplines. We are in charge of integrating design methods into technology development and promote a new Integrative Research Center in this field at TUM.
The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert in the area of building construction. The teaching load includes courses in the university's bachelor's and master's programs. The professorship teaches theoretical basics, methodical and subject-specific knowledge in its respective field. It addresses design research as well as applied research. Transfer services into professional practice and a high time presence at the Munich location are expected.
We are looking for a candidate with advanced scientific experience, proven by achievements in research and teaching at the highest international standards, according to the relevant career level. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific/artistic qualification as well as pedagogical aptitude, including the ability to teach in English, are also prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad is expected. The professorship is open to architects with professional experience. The proven ability to gain and to lead cooperative research projects and to attract third party funding is a prerequisite.
Based on best international standards and transparent performance criteria, TUM offers a merit-based academic career option for tenure track faculty from Assistant Professor through a permanent position as Associate Professor, and on to Full Professor. The regulations of TUM Faculty Recruitment and Career System apply.
