Professor (m/f) Digital Life Sciences
University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland
The University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland includes nine schools. We are looking for you to join the School of Life Sciences,
Institute for Medical and Analytical Technology, in Muttenz, Switzerland, at the earliest possible date:
Professor (m/f) Digital Life Sciences (80-100%)
Your tasks: As a member of the Institute for Medical and Analytical Technology, you will work in interdisciplinary teams with
colleagues from across the School of Life Sciences to develop informatics solutions in the fields of diagnostics and therapeutic systems. The
emphasis will be on precision medicine, point of care diagnostics, IT modelling and simulation of life science processes, interdisciplinary
development and application of complex software as well as data acquisition methods. To this end, you will acquire project finance from industry
and public funds, in addition to managing projects in collaboration with other institutions and research organisations. An extensive national and
international network is therefore a key condition for success. In this position, you will act as interface and first point of contact for
internal and external experts. Furthermore, you will teach selected courses, both for the German language BSc as well as the MSc taught in
English, and contribute to the further development of FHNW’s degree programmes.
Your profile: You have combined background in computer science and medical/natural science (with PhD in either) as well
as several years R&D experience in the medical technology industry or in the pharmaceutical sector. Thanks to your contacts in medicine
and industry and your scientific expertise in chemistry, biology or medicine, you can generate IT-based ideas and solutions for diagnostic
and therapeutic issues. Furthermore, you should have a proven record of success in university teaching as well as talent for working with
students and managing research projects. Given the international outlook of the university, a strong command of spoken and written English
is vital, but you should also be able to teach in German. FHNW strongly encourages applications by women.
