Subject to necessary grant, the Faculty of Theology, University of Copenhagen, invites applicants for a permanent position as Professor in Ethics and Philosophy of Religion to be filled by December 14, 2018, or as soon as possible thereafter.
The position will be located in the Section of Systematic Theology at The Faculty of Theology. Within the Section of Systematic Theology, Ethics and Philosophy of Religion constitute a unified field of research, which combines a continental philosophical approach with a concern for new areas and agendas.
In considering applicants for the professorship, a main emphasis will be on the applicant‘s ability to contribute to the field of Ethics and Philosophy of Religion and to further develop and strengthen the field. The successful applicant should have a strong and relevant research agenda with an original and constructive academic production at the highest international level covering several areas of the field as well as an international ambition in the field. The position requires an active engagement in applying for external funding, and involves a commitment to the development of the Section of Systematic Theology. We expect substantial engagement and experience in research-based teaching (including associated examination and supervision) related to the theology programmes at BA, MA and PhD levels and within any new areas of study as well as plans for outreach and communication. The candidate must be willing to be involved in administration and professional services (e.g. assessments and editorial work). Finally, the candidate should have strong communicative and collaborative skills in order to play a leading as well as a supporting role in the daily life of the Section. Regular presence at the Faculty is expected.
The successful applicant must
have at least a PhD degree in the field of Ethics and Philosophy of Religion, and must document a substantial, active research record at the highest international level covering several areas of the field.
document a strong experience in research-based teaching, including associated examination, supervision and academic assessment at BA, MA and PhD levels.
document experience in outreach activities and academic leadership activities.
possess strong communicative and collaborative skills.
Within a reasonable period of time (max 2 years), a non-Danish-speaking appointee will be required to acquire proficiency in Danish sufficient to teach in Danish as well as interact in Danish with colleagues and students.
Terms of employment
The candidate will be employed in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (Akademikernes Centralorganisation, AC). In additional to the basic salary, you will receive an annual increment of DKK 53,581.68 (as of 1 December 2017) and a total contribution to your pension fund, equal to 17,1 % of your salary and annual increment.

Applicants are selected on the basis of an overall assessment of the applicants that best match the recruitment needs of the Faculty as described in this advertisement for the post. This is compared with the applicant‘s research and teaching profile as set out in the application, CV incl. list of publication, teaching portfolio and any research/development plan.
All applicants are then immediately notified whether their application has been passed for assessment by an expert Assessment Committee. Selected applicants are notified of the composition of the committee and when the committee has completed its assessment, each applicant has the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that relates to the applicants themselves.
