The Faculty of Biosciences at Heidelberg University invites applications for the
Professorship “Molecular Organismal Biology” (f/m/d)
Open rank: tenure track W1 or tenured W3
at the Centre for Organismal Studies (COS) to be occupied at the next possible date.
The successful candidate (f/m/d) shall support and expand research activities of COS by addressing fundamental questions in molecular organismal biology, in particular, related to developmental physiology in genetically tractable animal models such as zebrafish, medaka or fly. The successful candidate will develop an innovative research program that promotes collaboration with colleagues at COS and the Heidelberg life science community. The successful candidate will integrate into existing research consortia and/or participate in initiatives to create new collaborative networks (excellence clusters, CRCs). The professorship will contribute to teaching in the biosciences within the study programmes Bachelor “Biowissenschaften”, Bachelor ”Biologie 50%” (Lehramt) and Master of Molecular Biosciences.
COS is a vibrant research center dedicated to elucidating the development, physiology and evolution of plants and animals using molecular biology, cell biology and genetics. COS comprises 24 independent research groups and offers excellent conditions for research and teaching in an international environment. Our work is supported by the CellNetworks Core Technology Platform (Deep Sequencing, Nikon Imaging Center, electron microscopy and Metabolomics). A detailed description of the research and teaching activities of COS is available on the COS webpage
https://www.cos.uni-heidelberg.de/en.
The professorship is open to candidates on both entry levels (tenure track W1 or tenured W3). A tenure track professorship (W1) will initially be limited to six years and, following a positive tenure evaluation, will be converted to a permanent W3 full professorship. The evaluation statute is available on
