Applied Geoinformatics
in Landscape Planning

Scientific focus should in particular encompass the processing and application
of geodata on questions targeting the landscape e.g. in the context
of planning processes, changes in land use and landscape development.
This requires qualitative and quantitative survey, analysis, spatially explicit
modeling as well as visualization of landscapes. Further key topics are
e.g. remote sensing, mobile data acquisition, processing big data in the
context of complex landscape related research questions und modeling
techniques. The requirement is a university degree in the area of spatial
planning or related disciplines.
Besides outstanding scientific skills, we expect didactic capability. The
teaching load includes courses in the university’s bachelor and master
programs with up to six hours per week during the semester in the
course of the qualification phase of the candidate. The following topics
need to be covered:
- geographic information systems (incl. open source GIS) and remote
sensing
- processing, analysis and visualisation of geodata
- geostatistical analyses and GIS based simulation models in landscape
planning.
This vacancie is to be filled before the summer semester 2019. The
position is offered for a period of six years pursuant to § 64 Para. 3 and
4 Hessian Higher Education Act (HHG) with an assessment in an evaluation
procedure to become a permanent W2 Professorship thereafter.
According to § 64 Para. 3 HHG, the applicant should have gained a
doctoral degree at an institution of higher education other than
Geisenheim University (GU) or have been in academic employment at an
institution other than GU for at least two years after conferral of a doctoral
degree. The duration of post-doctoral employment should normally not
exceed four years. Conditions of employment are based on § 62 HHG.
Proficient knowledge of German language is expected.
