The Faculty of Electrical Engineering at
the Helmut Schmidt University/Bundeswehr
University, Hamburg (HSU/UniBw H) is
seeking to appoint a
Full Professor (W3) for Data Engineering
(Reference number: ET-1019)
to the earliest possible date.
The task of the future post holder will be to comprehensively represent
the subject area of Data Engineering in teaching and research. Besides
being involved in the Bachelor's and Master's programmes of the Faculty
of Electrical Engineering, she or he is also expected to make a contribution
to the Logistics and Engineering Science interfaculty courses.
In matters of scientific research, at least two of the following topics
shall be addressed:
- Large-Scale Data Management/Data Analytics
- Semantic Web and Linked Data Technologies
- Information Security of Logistic IT Systems
- Virtual/Augmented Reality in Logistics
The future post holder shall collaborate in existing and future research
clusters of the HSU/UniBw H and support the further development of
algorithms and hardware platforms for big data management in logistics.
The professorship will be provided with an efficient laboratory. It is desirable
that the applicant should have achieved success in the industry or in an
industry-related occupation within her or his main area of research.
The HSU/UniBw H offers officer candidates as well as officers Bachelor's
and Master's degree courses which are conducted on a trimester system basis,
with a reduced prescribed period of study, and supplemented by interdisciplinary
study elements. Since 2002, the HSU/UniBw H has also been
open to civilian students as recipients of industry scholarships. The post
holder shall prepare students for professional activities in and outside the
Bundeswehr, which require the application of scientific findings and
methods, and, moreover, assume tasks in the area of advanced training
and teaching responsibilities in the field of interdisciplinary study elements
as well as within the context of study programmes taught in German
The required qualifications and service law status of professors are defined
in the German Federal Civil Service Act. Applicants under the age of 50
can become civil servants.
