PROFESSORSHIP W3 IN THE DOMAIN OF PRODUCTION TECHNOLOGY - MACHINING SYSTEMS

The School of Mechanical Engineering invites applications for a W3 professorship in production technology with a focus on machining systems. We are looking for a professionally distinguished individual, with experience in the acquisition and management of third-party funded projects, and publications in peer-reviewed journals. A
strong industry background is of advantage. Applications are invited from individuals from industry and research with a well-developed research profile in one or more of the following subfields:
- Mechanical machining systems, in particular cutting systems
- Machining technologies for lightweight applications, especially in the mobility sector
- Technologies for machining additive semi-finished products and ultra-hard machining
- Development of digitised and sensor-based machining systems
- Use of machine learning and digitisation methods
- Sustainable machining technologies
The professorship is integrated into established cooperations within and outside the TUHH, e.g. with regional Fraunhofer Institutes and industrial partners.
In teaching, the fundamentals and specialisations of production technology are to be taught in particular in the Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes.
This position is due to commence in the winter semester of 2022.
