Project Manager / Adult Education Specialist
The Max-Delbrück-Center for Molecular Medicine in the Helmholtz Association (MDC) carries out basic biomedical research with the aim of understanding the molecular basis of health and disease, and translating these findings as quickly as possible into clinical application.
The communications department of the MDC disseminates scientific findings of the institute to the public through a variety of channels and formats. Committed to open and transparent knowledge exchange with society, we are actively promoting communication skills of our researchers.
In this framework, we are participating in ORION, a recently funded project from the EU‘s Horizon 2020 Science with and for Society Program, in collaboration with several European partners.
ORION aims to identify and test innovative ways of bringing the principles of Open Science regarding Ethics, Open Access, Public Engagement, Education and Gender Equality into the scientific process. The international consortium behind ORION will conduct a series of case studies involving i.e. public dialogues on disruptive technologies and citizen science projects in fundamental biomedical research, as well as deliver a comprehensive training program on Open Science for researchers in the area of life sciences.
For the project ORION, we are looking for a candidate to fill the position of Project Manager / Adult Education Specialist.
The position involves:
developing and delivering training on open science
managing the MDC part of the international project (communications with project partners, reporting to the EC, etc.)
At least a bachelor degree in educational sciences or adult education or comparable relevant fields, preferably with transformative learning approaches
Experience with e-learning
Experience with project management and collaborative work
Excellent spoken and written communication skills in English, preferably at least basic German skills
Furthermore, the candidate should bring interest in public engagement and open science as well as demonstrate affinity to life science research topics. The position involves travel within EU.
The successful candidate will be under supervision of the project coordinator and work as a member of the communications team of the MDC.
Salary is according to the public service remuneration scheme TVöD Bund starting from E10 depending on tasks.
The initial contract is for 2 years, with a possibility of extension, which depends on the project‘s progress. A 6-month probation period applies in compliance with the German law.
