The University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland includes nine schools. We are looking for
you to join the School of Applied Psychology, Institute for Research and Development of Collaborative Processes,
from 01 May 2017 in Olten, Switzerland:
2 Research Assistants with the Opportunity for PhD Graduation, Coordination and Collaboration in Primary Palliative Care
Your tasks: You will be part of the research project “Coordination and collaboration in
primary palliative care. Palliative care networks in Switzerland” and write your PhD thesis in this framework.
This project is part of the national research programme 74 “Smarter Health Care”, run by the Swiss National
Science Foundation. It focuses on service providers’ cooperation and coordination processes in the field of primary and
specialised palliative care as well as their structural requirements. Successful forms of local/regional palliative care
networks are going to be identified and their effects on patients will be scrutinised. The study is supposed to result
in guidelines and standards for cooperation/coordination of service providers in palliative care networks and to indicate
potential for future development. You will get insights into all the basal tasks of modern academic work (national and
international presentations, various publications, organising workshops). Participation in PhD programmes at the University
of Basel may be possible. Remuneration will be fixed according to the Swiss National Science Foundation’s regulations.
The position is limited to 2.5 years.
Your profile: You have a Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in psychology, possibly combined with a
degree in sociology or health science. A background in nursing sciences or general medicine (or affinity to these disciplines)
would be advantageous. You have a wide range of practical experience with the application of qualitative and quantitative methods
in the social sciences and you have already worked on research projects. Relevant theoretical knowledge in the framework of this
project is desirable. Furthermore, you do not only speak German and English, but also French and/or Italian. You are highly
motivated, enthusiastic as well as able to work independently and to take part in interdisciplinary exchange processes within
the project. We offer the opportunity for PhD graduation and to work in an inspiring, interdisciplinary environment in a national
research programme (NFP 74).
