A research associate (postdoc) position is available in the group of Prof. Dr. Heidi Olzscha at the MSH Medical School Hamburg – University of Applied Sciences and Medical University. The MSH is an accredited university located at the Hafencity of Hamburg, Germany and hosts an entirely new laboratory complex equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation for biomedical research.
The successful applicant will pursue a biomedical research project working on protein quality control, protein folding and misfolding and the impact on protein folding diseases, with a particular focus on neurodegenerative diseases. The project involves the development of therapeutic approaches and has a translational aspect.
The project involves a wide spectrum of techniques, including biochemical methods (cell fractionation, protein purification, protein analysis), methods of molecular biology (cloning, mutagenesis, genome editing) and methods of cell biology (confocal and live cell imaging, FACS) and -omic approaches.
We are looking for a motivated and ambitious research associate (postdoc) who strives to contribute to the development of innovative therapeutic approaches in the field of protein quality control and protein folding diseases. Experience in the aforementioned techniques is desirable as well as good knowledge of the English language.
The position requires a completed PhD degree in the natural sciences or medicine, preferably related in biochemistry or similar topics. Earlier scientific publications are welcome.
Permanent position involving the standard probationary period.
