The European Institute for Energy Research (EIFER) was established as collaboration between the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and Électricité de France SA (EDF) and is located in Karlsruhe, Germany. Today EIFER has a multi-cultural team of more than 100 employees.
The European Institute for Energy Research EDF-KIT EWIV (EIFER), established by EDF and KIT, located in Karlsruhe is currently looking for a
in order to further develop the competences in the field of "Policy Analysis and Energy Market Studies" within the “Energy Planning and Geosimulation” group.
The increasing share of decentralised and intermittent electricity generation raises challenges for EU member states and the European energy sector: network and market integration of electricity from renewable sources, security of supply, financial burden for consumers, and profitability of power plants. EIFER monitors measures that European governments and European utilities put into place in order to cope with these challenges and analyses their impact on energy markets and business models.
The new employee will be in charge of analysing the impact of policies, contextual changes or incentives in the field of electricity and heat markets. Moreover, a focus will be set on emerging business models and adaptation strategies of utilities. This implies the political and legal analysis of larger reform projects with special regard to social transformations
as well as the quantitative assessment of business opportunities and energy market developments.

The job applicant should hold a Master degree or equivalent in political science, industrial engineering or economics, and ideally has gained first professional experiences.
The applicants should enjoy working in an international and interdisciplinary team. The duration of the position is initially limited to two years, starting in October 2016.
