The WZB Berlin Social Science Center’s Global Governance unit in the research area International Politics and Law (Director: Prof. Dr. Michael Zürn) is seeking
two research fellows (f/m/x)
to be employed for a period of three years, starting preferably on 16
th September 2019, with a weekly working load of 25.35 hours (65% of full-time).
Task description:
The task is to do research in the context of a project that aims to provide an overview of the diversity and relative strength of the contestants versus the liberal script. In addition to conceptual contributions and, where appropriate, empirical surveys, it involves participation in joint publications and presentation of the project results at workshops and conferences. Both scientists will be involved in the research program of the Global Governance unit (
https://www.wzb.eu/en/research/international-politics-and-law/global-governance) and closely work with the Cluster of Excellence "Contestations of the Liberal Script" (
http://www.scripts-berlin.eu).
It is encouraged to pursue a doctoral degree, preferably at Berlin Graduate School for Global and Transregional Studies (BGTS), in parallel with the position. Please keep in mind that the position is not open to persons already holding a PhD.
Conditions:
- very good knowledge of Political Sociology, Comparative Politics, International Relations or Political Theory,
- very good final marks (Master's or equivalent) in Political Science, International Relations, Sociology or Philosophy,
- very good command of English.
Good knowledge of qualitative methods (e.g. of qualitative interviews) and/or quantitative methods (e.g. content analysis) in the social sciences, as well as experience with stakeholder surveys and/or experience in using records – such as democracy indices – are an asset.
Remuneration: Up to salary group E13 in accordance with German Public Service Wage Agreement (TVöD).
