The research group Bergheim (Chair Molecular Nutrition) at the Department of Nutritional Sciences is looking for support in an interdisciplinary research project in the thematic field "Viral infection and Nutrition". We are a young and international research team working at the interfaces of nutrition and disease development. We build on a good working atmosphere, close collaboration with our students and self-dependent involvement and coordination of research projects. Duration of contract: 1 year with a possibility of extension.
Duration of employment: 1 year/s
Extent of Employment: 40.0 hours/week
Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: §48 VwGr. B1 lit. b (postdoc) with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade.
Job Description:
You will be responsible for the conceptualization, co-ordination and supervision of human and cell culture studies in the area of viral diseases and nutrition. In particular, molecular mechanisms involved in the immune response and the effects of compounds found in foods and beverages as well as their in vivo effects will be in the focus of your work. Participation in paper writing and publications as well as external fund raising is expected. Furthermore, involvement in administration of third-party funding and associated administrated tasks of the department is expected. In addition, participation in supervision of students involved in research projects is expected.
Profile:
Your qualification:
- a PhD in the field of nutritional sciences or closely related fields e.g.
- molecular medicine, molecular biology
- lively interest in science
- experience in carrying out human studies with methodological experience in the field of immunology e.g., the isolation and cultivation of immune cells and/ or HPLC
- ability to communicate both in German and English
- ability to work in a highly dynamic research team, high interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills, ability to work under pressure, ability to work independently and with a high level of motivation
