The Department of Sociology, a subunit of the Faculty of Social Sciences, combines scientific research and teaching at the University of Vienna.
The position advertised here is linked to the research project "Constructing Learning Outcomes in Europe. A Multi-Level Analysis of (Under-) achievement in the Life Course" (CLEAR) which is committed to understand the factors that affect the quality of learning outcomes (LOs) across European regions and intends to spark innovative policy approaches to tackle underachievement and increase upward mobility for young people. CLEAR will start in October 2022 and will conduct comparative, multi-level analyses in 8 EU countries – Austria, Bulgaria, Finland, Germany, Greece, Italy, Portugal, Spain.
Duration of employment: 1 year/s
Extent of Employment: 20.0 hours/week
Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: §48 VwGr. B1 Grundstufe (praedoc) with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade.
Job Description:
- Primary involvement and support in research, administration and teaching within the various phases of the project
- Active participation in conferences
- Independent research and further publication activities and involvement in project-related research activities and publications within the team
- Involvement in research activities and research administration of the Department of Sociology
Profile:
- Excellent masters's degree or Diploma in the study field of Sociology or an equivalent degree in a related discipline
- Distinctive methodological knowledge and experience in quantitative methods
- Methodological knowledge in qualitative methods
- Skills and experience in research activities within the framework of sociology or education
- Competence in sociology or sociology of education, education studies, social policies, or related fields
- Relevant publication activities in these areas
- Experience in reporting activities within international or national research projects
- Ability to work in a team, talent for organization and willingness to familiarize yourself with new topics and methods
