The Technical University of Munich (TUM) invites applications for the position of
Tenure Track Assistant Professor
in »Mineral Construction Materials«
to begin on October 1, 2020 the latest. The position is a W2 fixed-term position (6 years) with tenure track to a tenured W3 position (Associate Professor). The professorship is funded by the Federal Tenure Track Programme.
The professorship belongs to the TUM Department of Civil, Geo and Environmental Engineering and is affiliated with the TUM Department of Chemistry. The field of work leads beyond the Departments of Civil Geo and Environmental Engineering and Chemistry to links to the Department of Architecture, the TUM School of Life Sciences Weihenstephan and various Professors of Earth Sciences of LMU, who already cooperate with the geoscientific professors of TUM via the MGC Munich GeoCenter.
The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert in the research area of mineral binders and other main constituents of forward looking, ecologically optimized concrete; this includes also the modeling of the phase assemblage and/or the microstructure of concrete and further development of the methodology of the assessment of the ecological impact of building materials. The teaching load includes courses in the university's bachelor and master programs. Full commitment to do interdisciplinary research is mandatory.
We are looking for a candidate who has demonstrated initial scientific achievements and the capacity for independent research at the highest international standards. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification as well as pedagogical aptitude, including the ability to teach in English, are also prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad is expected. The successful candidate shows the proven ability to gain and to lead cooperative research projects and to attract third-party funding (DFG, EU, AiF).
Based on best international standards and transparent performance criteria, TUM offers a merit-based academic career option for tenure track faculty from Assistant Professor [through a permanent position as Associate Professor, and on to Full Professor. The regulations of TUM Faculty Recruitment and Career System apply.
