The Technical University of Munich (TUM) invites applications for the position of
Tenure Track Assistant Professor
in »Control and manipulation of microscale living objects«
to begin in winter semester 2018/19. The position is a W2 fixed-term position (6 years) with tenure track option to a tenured W3 position (Associate Professor). The professorship is funded by the Federal Tenure Track Programme.
The professorship belongs to the TUM Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. It will form a research and teaching unit together with the Heinz Nixdorf Chair of Biomedical Electronics. Important links exist to the TUM Department of Medicine and the Center for Translational Cancer Research (TranslaTUM).
The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert in the research area of control and manipulation of microscale living objects with a focus on piezo-acoustic methods for non- or minimal invasive cell control, theory and simulation of microfluidics for organoid applications as well as biomedical engineering of tumor microenvironments. The teaching load includes courses in the university‘s bachelor and master programs.
We are looking for a candidate who has demonstrated initial scientific achievements and the capacity for independent research at the highest international standards. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification as well as pedagogical aptitude, including the ability to teach in English, are also prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad is expected.
Based on best international standards and transparent performance criteria, TUM offers a merit-based academic career option for tenure track faculty from Assistant Professor through a permanent position as Associate Professor, and on to Full Professor. The regulations of TUM Faculty Recruitment and Career System apply.
