At the Centre for Microbiology and Environmental Systems Science of the University of Vienna the position of a
(full-time position) is to be filled.
Contamination of our environment is one of the most pressing global problems and a planetary boundary that has been crossed. Our overall goal is to understand the fate of contaminants in environmental systems and inform solutions to these pressing problems.
We are seeking an individual with an excellent track record and international reputation in the fields of environmental geosciences or geochemistry, contaminant hydrogeology, environmental chemistry, environmental engineering, environmental systems toxicology, or closely related fields.
Research topics might include, but are not limited to, mechanistic understanding of environmental transformation processes and mobility of anthropogenic or geogenic contaminants, fate and remediation of very mobile very toxic or persistent substances, perturbations of environmental systems by xenobiotics and associated systems toxicology beyond single organisms, interactions between contaminants and geochemical interfaces.
The candidate must have expertise in quantitative experimental research and state of the art analytical tools and should work towards a process-level understanding of the environmental fate and/or effect of natural and anthropogenic contaminants.
