at the Department of Applied Psychology: Health, Development, Enhancement and Intervention

The Faculty of Psychology consists of the Dean's office and the studies service center, as well as the Department of Basic Psychological Research and Research Methods, - the Department of Applied Psychology: Health, Development, Enhancement and Intervention, - the Department of Applied Psychology: Work, Education and Economy and - the Outpatient Unit for Research, Teaching and Practice. Currently, nearly 3,500 students of Psychology are enrolled in Bachelor's, Master's and PhD programs, attending nearly 200 courses per semester, which are taught and supervised by 220 teachers.
We offer a position for a university assistant (post doc) at the research group of Clinical Psychology of Adulthood (directed by Professor Urs Nater) at the Department of Applied Psychology: Health, Development, Enhancement and Intervention. The research group runs the “Stress Lab”, which conducts research that seeks to examine the biopsychosocial underpinnings of the effects of stress on mind and body (for more information see https://klinische-gesundheit-psy.univie.ac.at/forschung/arbeitsgruppen/stress-und-stressbezogene-stoerungen/).
Duration of employment: 4 years.
Extent of Employment: 40 hours/week.
Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: §48 VwGr. B1 lit. b (postdoc) with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade.
Active participation in research, teaching, and administration. This involves:
- Developing and strengthening a research profile in the field of stress effects on mind & body, with a particular focus on fatigue and pain
- Involvement in research projects / research studies
- International publications and presentations
- Responsibility for project applications and the acquisition of third-party funding
- Preparing / writing a (publication-ready) habilitation thesis or equivalent
- Independent teaching of courses as defined by the collective agreement
- Supervision of students
- Participation in evaluation measures and quality assurance
- Involvement in the department administration as well as in teaching and research administration
- Doctoral degree/PhD degree
- Experimental research skills
- Experience in research on the psychobiology of stress
- Experience with biological methods (e.g. neuroendocrine assessments)
- Experience in student supervision (Bachelor/ Master’s theses)
- High ability to express yourself both orally and in writing
- Excellent command of written and spoken English
- Ability to work in a team
In addition, we expect the successful candidate to have:
- Teaching experience / experience of working with e-learning
- Experience of working in research projects
- Publications in renowned, subject-relevant journals (peer-reviewed)
- International presentation experience.
Desirable qualifications are:
- Knowledge of university processes and structures
- Experience abroad
- Experience in stress-related research
- Interest in research in clinical and biological psychology
