The Terrestrial Ecosystem Research Group (TER) at the Centre for Microbiology and Environmental Systems Science is looking for an outstanding independent Group Leader in the wider area of functional soil ecology. We offer full access to our unique facilities, infrastructure and analytical instrumentation and a start-up support (to be negotiated).
The position is currently limited to 4 years, with the possibility of an extension to a maximum of 6 years.
Duration of employment: 4 year/s
Extent of Employment: 40.0 hours/week
Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: §48 VwGr. B1 lit. b (postdoc) with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade.
Job Description:
We intend to strengthen our expertise in Functional Soil Ecology at the interface of microbial ecology and environmental processes. We are looking for highly qualified and ambitious candidates, who have recently completed their PhD and wish to establish an independent research group in an area of functional soil ecology, complementing the ongoing research at the Terrestrial Ecosystem Research Group (TER) at the Centre for Microbiology and Environmental Systems Science. The acquisition of third-party funding is expected. The position includes some teaching as regulated by the collective bargaining agreement.
Profile:
- Doctoral or PhD degree (Biology, Ecology, Soil Science, or similar)
- At least 1 year of relevant post-doctoral research experience
- Excellent command of written and spoken English
- High ability to express himself*herself both orally and in writing
- Documented publication activity in peer-reviewed journals
- Good team-working ability
In addition, we expect the successful candidate to have experience in supervising students at the Bachelor and Master's level.
