The position is meant to provide a young scientist in the years after obtaining a Ph.D. with support to broaden and deepen his or her research agenda. Employment (40 hrs/week) is based on a 3-year contract.
The successful applicant will join the faculty and participate in the department's research, teaching, and administrative activities. In particular, the candidate is expected to participate in research projects leading to international publications and presentations.Possible topics include: post-model-selection inference in mixed models, dimension reduction and classification techniques for complex dependent data or Bayesian approaches to machine learning algorithms.
The successful candidate will join the faculty and participate in the department’s research, teaching (to the extent regulated by the collective bargaining agreement), and administrative activities. In particular, the candidate is expected to participate in research projects leading to international publications and presentations. Possible topics include: post-model-selection inference in mixed models, dimension reduction and classification techniques for complex dependent data or Bayesian approaches to machine learning algorithms.
A Ph.D. in statistics, mathematics, or a closely related discipline (completed or pending completion); a strong background in mathematical statistics and probability theory; and promising potential for original high-level research.
In addition, we expect the successful candidate to have
- Teaching experience / experience of working with e-learning
- Experience of working on research projects
- Publications in renowned, subject-relevant media (peer-reviewed, depending on the professional standards)
- International presentation experience

- Knowledge of university processes and structures
- Experience abroad
- Experience of supervising students
- Letter of motivation
- Academic curriculum vitae (including a list of publications, a list of courses and a list of talks given)
- Description of research interests and research agenda / of the intended habilitation project (if applicable)
