The Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Vienna is the largest Austrian institution of mathematical research and tertiary education in the mathematical sciences. It consists of active research groups in a wide range of fields, starting
from logical foundations, bridging all classical core subjects, and up to concrete applications in industry. As part of the Faculty, the Institute of Mathematics represents the entire discipline of mathematics in research and teaching, without making an arbitrary separation into pure and applied fields.
The position is vacant for the period of absence of a member of staff.
Teaching in the curricula of Mathematics and for Geoscientists. Excellent research in Applied Mathematics, in particular mathematical imaging and tomography. Publications in international journals of high reputation. Willingness to teach in the Curricula of mathematics and of geoscience.
Applied Mathematics, in particular desired is research experience in mathematical imaging and/or optimization. Collaborations with the Sonderforschungsbereich „Tomography across the Scales“ on Superresolution microscopy are desired.
PhD in Mathematics
Professional, methodological and didactic skills and competence in the area of mathematical modelling
Ability to work in teams
Experience in teaching / experience in e-learning
Experience in knowledge management
Experience in (external) fundraising
Knowledge of university structures and processes
