The Vienna Biocenter PhD Program is inviting applications for a Praedoc researcher position in the field of stem cell biology/molecular biology/genome engineering/CRISPR-Cas9.
The employment relationship is initially limited to 1.5 years and is automatically extended to a total of 3 years, unless the employer submits a declaration of non-renewal after a maximum of 12 months.
Duration of employment: 3 year/s
Extent of Employment: 30.0 hours/week
Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: §48 VwGr. B1 Grundstufe (praedoc) with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade.
Job Description:
- Independent Research Activities;
- Assist with research, teaching, and administrative duties assigned to the organizational unit/subunit to which assigned;
- Collaboration in examinations;
- Collaboration in organizational and administrative tasks and in evaluation activities;
- Supervision of students;
- teach courses and hold exams Independently.
- Participation in research projects / scientific studies
- Independent work in the molecular research laboratory in the field of cell differentiation / biology of embryonic stem cells
- Participation in publications/scientific articles
- Participation in the organization of meetings, conferences, symposia
- Project application and acquisition of third-party funds (research grants)
- Completion of a dissertation agreement within 12-18 months is expected.
Profile:
- Completed Master's degree, majoring in biology or molecular biology with a specialization in genetics.
- Professional competencies in stem cell biology/molecular biology/genome engineering/CRISPR-Cas9
- Methodological competencies in stem cell biology/molecular biology/genome engineering/CRISPR-Cas9
- Practical experience and extensive theoretical knowledge in the field of cell biology, especially stem cell biology and in modern genome engineering technologies, as well as in planning and application of CRISPR-Cas9 based genetic screens.
- Very good command of written and spoken English
- High level of written and oral expression
- Team ability
- Experience in external funding acquisition (research grants).
- Successful completion of the selection process for the Vienna Biocenter PhD Program.
