The Center for Integrative Bioinformatics Vienna (CIBIV) is recruting a PdH student: the candidate should have a Mater degree in Bioinformatics or related area. Furthermore knowledge of the fundamentals of statistics, basic algorithms and sequence data analysis is also an advantage. It is also required that the candidate has knowledge of molecular biology in order to understand complex experimental designs in model and non-model organisms. The canditate will participate in research, teaching to the extent of the collective agreement provisions and administration - contribute to research projects / scientific studies - and contribute to publications / scientific articles. Also the successful canditate is expected to complete her/his dissertation agreement within 12-18 months
Duration of employment: 4 year/s
Extent of Employment: 30.0 hours/week
Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: §48 VwGr. B1 Grundstufe (praedoc) with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade.
Job Description:
The ideal candidate is expected to analyse next generation sequence (NGS) data in order to answer specific biological questions. He is expected to develop and maintain working bioinformatics pipelines for the analysis of next generation sequence data.
Profile:
Knowledge of the fundamentals of statistics, basic algorithms and sequence data analysis is also a must. It is further required that the candidate has the necessary knowledge of molecular biology and biochemistry to understand complex experimental designs in model and non-model organisms.
