University Assistant (prae doc)
at the Vienna Doctoral School in Chemistry (DoSChem)

The University of Vienna, Faculty of Chemistry, is home of the Vienna Doctoral School in Chemistry (DoSChem). DoSChem is the largest doctoral training program in Austria focusing on the field of chemistry and closely related sciences by bringing together more than 200 doctoral students and over 50 principal investigators. Our goal is to train excellent scientists and to provide an open-minded environment that allows them to connect with each other and to experience a scientifically rich environment to carry out interdisciplinary and curiosity-driven research.
DoSChem offers 3 PhD positions with starting time in July (10040773 #1) or later and in September 2023 (10033120 #2 and 10040774 #3) with contract duration of 3 years in Materials Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry - Functional Materials and Food Chemistry and Toxicology. The contract duration is 3 years with a preliminary limitation of 1,5 years and will automatically be extended to 3 years unless the employer hands in a non-extension declaration after 12 months. We expect the successful candidate to sign a doctoral thesis agreement within 12-18 months and to participate in research, teaching and administration, including: - Participation in research projects / research studies - Participation in publications / academic articles / presentations - Participation in teaching and independent teaching of courses as defined by the collective agreement - Supervision of students - Involvement in the organisation of meetings, conferences, symposiums - Involvement in the department administration as well as in teaching and research administration. #1 (Planstelle 10040773) 1 PhD position within the project “porous organic polymers” in the group of Ass.-Prof. Robert Woodward, at the Institute of Materials Chemistry. #2 (Planstelle 10033120) 1 PhD position in materials chemistry in the group of Assoz. Prof. Jia Min Chin, at the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry - Functional Materials. #3 (Planstelle 10040774) 1 PhD position in food toxicology in the group of Dr. Elisabeth Varga and Prof. Doris Marko, at the Institute of Food Chemistry and Toxicology.

Profile:
#1 Master’s degree in (technical) chemistry, chemical engineering or materials science. Knowledge of the synthesis and application of nanoporous materials is preferred. A proven aptitude for practical experimental work and chemical characterisation.

#2 Master’s degree in chemistry or chemical engineering or closely related fields and knowledge in materials chemistry, electrochemistry and experience in the area of nanoporous inorganic materials and their characterization.

#3 Master of science (chemistry, food chemistry, biology, pharmacy, nutritional sciences or similar). Experience with analytical-chemical and toxicological methods including cell culture work is advantageous.
