Visiting Researcher in Digital Humanities
ITMO University‘s Digital Humanities Center (DHC) invites applications for the position of a
Visiting Researcher in Digital Humanities.
Job description
DHC is seeking for applicants with a strong academic background in a relevant humanities discipline, including publications of high-quality peer-reviewed research, as well as participation in or leading of digital humanities (DH) projects. Applicants are expected to initiate own projects. Interdisciplinary projects are welcome.
You will work in a team of young DH professionals and motivated interdisciplinary students at one of Russia‘s leading higher education and research institutions. DHC is open to any kinds of cooperation with researchers, such as public city events, collaborations with Russian and international institutions, students‘ involvement and other activities of different formats. Duration of a visit depends on the fellowship option selected by an applicant and will be based on their merits. The position is based in St. Petersburg, Russia.

Visiting researcher‘s job responsibilities are:
- To conduct research within the digital humanities field and contribute to the overall research performance of the University through the production of measurable outputs including application for funding, publication in national academic journals and conference digests, and the recruitment and supervision of postgraduate research students
- To develop research objectives and proposals for their own work or joint research, including research funding proposals
- To present conference/seminar papers at the local and national level
- To participate in the University‘s research activities

ITMO University‘s international Digital Humanities Center conducts research and digital projects on cultural data, its acquisition, manipulation, and storage. We work with statistical analysis and interpretation, as well as dissemination of cultural data artifacts through visual and narrative means. Among our projects are a retrospective visualization of key St. Petersburg landmarks; the book Generation Z on Digital Culture; a data visualization project for the GULAG History Museum; and Fortepan Russia. We also promote the digital humanities culture by giving open lectures in collaboration with IT professionals, humanities specialists, DH researchers and practitioners in St. Petersburg.
