Professorship (m/f/x)
in Social Pedagogy with a focus on Diversity Education
salary scale W2
starting as soon as possible.
The successful candidate's research and teaching will cover the full spectrum of social pedagogy, with a particular focus on diversity education. The successful candidate
will contribute to the profile of the Institute of Educational Sciences as well as to the research profile of School I, 'Participation and Education', by conducting innovative
research projects and applying innovative teaching concepts in the fields of social pedagogy and diversity education. Teaching responsibilities include representing and further
developing the Social Pedagogy curriculum in the Bachelor’s degree programmes in Educational Science and Education in Immigration Societies, in the Master’s degree programme
in Educational Sciences and in the relevant Educational Science modules offered as part of teacher training programmes.
Candidates are required
- to have made relevant theoretical and empirical contributions to social pedagogical research (evidenced by high-calibre publications),
- to have recognisable expertise in the field of diversity education as a general principle of social pedagogy,
- to have successfully obtained third-party funding for empirical research projects,
- to have relevant university teaching experience in the broad field of social pedagogy (history, theories, organisation, profession, recipients, concepts, methods)
- and to have experience in cooperating with practitioners.
Candidates should desirably have innovative teaching and research ideas and international research and teaching experience.
The University of Oldenburg is committed to interdisciplinary collaborative research. The successful candidate is expected to cooperate closely with colleagues from the Institute and the School and to actively participate in interdisciplinary and School-wide research, practice and further education initiatives at both the Center for Migration, Education and Cultural Studies (CMC) and the Centre for Teacher Training and Didactics (DiZ). As the University of Oldenburg and the University of Bremen are bound by a cooperation agreement, active participation in the cooperation is expected.
Prerequisites for employment are specified in section 25 of the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act (NHG). Candidates are required to have a degree in Social Pedagogy/Social Work or Educational Science with a focus on Social Pedagogy/Social Work or comparable subjects. Professorships with a functional description involving duties in education science or didactics can only be filled with candidates who can additionally provide evidence of at least three years of practical experience at a school or suitable pedagogical experience, or appropriate empirical research experience corresponding to these duties.
