Young Investigator Group Leader (f/m) "Host-pathogen interactions"
University of Würzburg
Young Investigator Group Leader
(The placement is made as soon as possible)
The Biocenter at the University of Würzburg seeks a leader for a junior research
group on "Host-pathogen interactions". We are looking to recruit a researcher
with outstanding postdoctoral experience and international recognition in molecular infection biology, cellular microbiology, or cell-autonomous
defence. Potential research topics of the new junior group could address, e.g.,
heterogeneity of infections, colonization and persistence within host/cellular
niches, exploitation of cellular metabolism/pathways by bacterial pathogens.
Candidates using emerging technologies (for example, single cell analysis) to
study new aspects of pathogenesis are preferred, but all outstanding scientists
are encouraged to apply.
The appointment can be for up to 6 years. Salary (compensation will be
according to TV-L) will be commensurate with training and experience. The
position includes laboratory operating expenses and salaries for additional
personnel, and laboratory space with bio-containment, molecular imaging, highthroughput
genomics, and animal facilities. The junior group will be associated
and supported by the young investigator program of the Research Center for
Infectious Diseases (ZINF) in Würzburg. For further information, see www.biozentrum.uni-wuerzburg.de and http://www.zinf.uni-wuerzburg.de/en/zinf/.
Informal inquiries can be made to Prof. Thomas Rudel (email@example.com) and Prof. Cynthia Sharma (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Interested individuals should send a one-page description of their research
interests and future directions, CV and publication list, and the names of three
academic references by March 14th, 2018. We may ask short-listed candidates to
provide a more detailed research proposal at a later date. Preference will be
given to people with disabilities in the case of otherwise equal aptitude. The
University aims to increase the proportion of female
employees, therefore applications from qualified women are
particularly welcome. Applications should be sent as a single
PDF via email to email@example.com, and addressed to the Dean of the Faculty of
Biology, Prof. Markus Sauer.
