About the professorship in Software Engineering Role:


CODE University of Applied Sciences invites applications for a professorship in Software Engineering (f/m/x) starting August 1st, 2026 or later. 


The professorship will contribute to the development of Software Engineering-related offerings in the curricula of undergraduate and graduate programs, further strengthen Software Engineering-related research at CODE, and provide guidance for entrepreneurs and teams on both technical and strategic matters. The latter implies that candidates should—in addition to their academic experience—bring strong technical leadership skills, for example, through work experience as CTO or similar roles. Candidates should also be prepared to take on the coordination of a study program.


As a professor at CODE you will be responsible for:

  • Creating and delivering interactive learning formats and assessments.
  • Mentoring our students.
  • Contributing to the curriculum development for Bachelor's and Master's programs.
  • Conducting research.
  • Acquisition and implementation of research projects and other partnerships.
  • Contributing to the regular and systematic evaluation of the quality of teaching and research.
  • Representation of the university in the scientific and general public.
  • Active participation in the academic self-governance.

Requirements:

  • A doctoral degree/PhD in a relevant field.
  • Teaching experience at university level.
  • A student-centred teaching approach that emphasises active participation and inclusivity.
  • Documented research achievements.
  • Accomplishments in the application or development of scientific knowledge and methods in at least five years of professional practice, of which at least three years must have been practiced outside the university sector (in line with §100 of the Berlin Higher Education Law (BerlHG)).
  • An excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken.

Additional selection criteria include:

  • Experience in entrepreneurship or product development.
  • International and transcultural experience.
  • Experience in attracting (research) funding.
  • Finding joy in a creative, collaborative, and engaging environment where the land is still being laid.

About the professorship in Liberal Arts & Digital Policy  Role:

CODE University of Applied Sciences invites applications for a professorship in Liberal Arts & Digital Policy (f/m/x) starting August 1st, 2026 or later. 


The professorship will be part of CODE’s in Science, Technology & Society program (STS), and contribute to teaching in the undergraduate and graduate programs at CODE, further strengthen STS-related research at CODE, and provide guidance for student entrepreneurs and teams on topics such as ethics,, social impact, decision-making, and good judgement.


We are looking for candidates with both profound expertise in the humanities and social sciences  as well as in digital policy and the application and implications of digital technology. A solid understanding of philosophy and the global history of ideas, broad intellectual and artistic interests, entrepreneurial experience, as well as technical skills would also be wonderful.


CODE values didactic approaches that are project- and problem-oriented, and follows a teaching model in the style of Rousseau’s Émile. We encourage you to provide challenges that trigger the intrinsic learning impulses of your students to help us continue building a liberal arts program for digital pioneers, and take the ideals of liberal arts and humanist education into the 21st century.

About the Professor of Business Management & Entrepreneurship Role:

CODE University of Applied Sciences invites applications for the position of Professor of Business Management & Entrepreneurship (f/m/x) starting August 1st, 2026 or later. 

In this position, you will be responsible for:

  • Planning and facilitating interactive learning formats and assessments in English language on a weekly schedule for modules in Bachelor and Master programs.
  • Subject-specific and general consulting for students.
  • Contributing to the curriculum development for Bachelor and Master programs.
  • Conducting applied research in collaboration with other faculty members and involving students.
  • Acquisition and implementation of research projects and partnerships with industry.
  • Contributing to the regular and systematic evaluation of the quality of teaching and research.
  • Representation of the university in the scientific and general public.
  • Active participation in the academic self-governance of the university.

We are looking for professors who don’t think of themselves as the main resource for valuable knowledge that needs to be transferred to the students by PowerPoint-driven lectures. Instead, we want them to provide challenges that trigger the intrinsic learning impulses of their students.


Requirements:

  • Have at least five years of significant professional experience with business management and entrepreneurship inside and outside the educational sector, of which at least three years must have been practiced outside the university sector (in line with §100 of the Berlin Higher Education Law (BerlHG)).
  • A doctoral degree/PhD in a relevant field.
  • Teaching experience at university level.
  • Documented research achievements.
  • An excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken.

Additional selection criteria include:

  • Graduated with a PhD in Business Administration, Business Informatics, Management, Economics, Entrepreneurship, or a related field.
  • First-hand experience in an MBA program, either via graduating with an MBA or via working in an MBA program.
  • Experience with business administration processes in an entrepreneurial environment, including financial modeling of product or innovation projects. International experience is a plus.
  • Experience with non-authoritative leadership, including either personnel management or a team leadership role.
    An analytical mindset and experience in working with data-related tools.
  • Hands-on experience using AI (both predictive and generative AI) in business or learning contexts and an in-depth understanding of the current shifts in these fields.
  • First-hand experience working with agile software development methodologies (Scrum/Kanban).
  • The ability to understand complex business processes and needs in different cultures and markets.
  • Willingness and aptitude for interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • A passion for entrepreneurship and the user-centric mindset.
  • A sense of urgency, pragmatism and a solution-oriented approach to problem-solving.
  • Mentoring experience is preferable.
  • Experience in attracting research funding is a big plus.
  • Working experience in different cultural environments is highly appreciated.

What you can expect:
Permanent contract.
Full-time position (40 hours per week), in Berlin, on campus.
A salary between €6,166 and €7,083 per month (gross) for a full-time position depending on experience.
