About CIBSS
Cells in complex organisms communicate through biological signals to coordinate tasks, form tissues, and adapt to environmental conditions. The Cluster of Excellence CIBSS – Centre for Integrative Biological Signalling Studies – investigates biological signalling processes across multiple scales to develop a comprehensive understanding of this communication. Through a highly interdisciplinary and collaborative research program and the integration of signal research with innovative analytical and synthetic technologies, CIBSS expands the boundaries of signal research and opens new avenues to address global challenges in biomedicine and sustainable agriculture.
Your Role
As Coordinator of Early-Career Programs and Diversity Management, you will have an important role within the CIBSS Management Office. You will serve as the Cluster’s central point of contact for early-career researchers and for all matters related to early career support programs and diversity management.
- Area coordination, quality assurance, and strategic development of CIBSS Early Career Programs for doctoral candidates, postdoctoral researchers, and junior group leaders
- Coordination and development of the Launchpad Workshop series, Launchpad Funds Program, and scientific courses for CIBSS doctoral candidates
- Establishment and management of structured mentoring and career planning support
- Planning and coordination of research-oriented courses for bachelor's and master's students, and development of new initiatives to spark student interest in signalling research
- Establishment and further development of diversity management measures across all career stages
- Communication and coordination with contact persons from other early-career support programs in Freiburg
- Development and implementation of a comprehensive onboarding concept
- Establishment and further development of measures to promote the internal and international networking and visibility of early-career researchers
- Successfully completed master's degree or equivalent qualification, preferably in a natural or life science field, ideally with a subsequent doctoral degree
- Experience in coordinating career counselling and professional development of (international) early-career researchers at a university or other research institution
- Strong grasp of the requirements for subsequent career paths both within and outside academic research, and of the current best practices in researcher career development
- Ideally, solid knowledge and experience in diversity management and onboarding processes, or willingness to develop further in this area
- Independent and responsible working style
- Excellent organizational and conceptual skills
- Capacity for critical evaluation, and motivation to continuously develop your area of responsibility within the Cluster and your own qualification profile
- Strong communication skills in English and in German, in both written and spoken form
- Strong teamwork abilities, flexibility, professional demeanor, and enthusiasm for working with early-career researchers
- A central, responsible position in an excellent research consortium with high international visibility
- You will be the central point of contact in the cluster for early-career researchers and for all questions regarding funding programs and diversity management
- From the outset, you will be expected to take on responsibility and contribute your own ideas for innovative funding programs and initiatives for early-career researchers
