Main tasks
The goal of Prof. Milica Gasic' DFG project “Curriculum learning in natural language generation” is to better understand the origins of hallucinations and eventually reduce their magnitude and severity in the output of NLG models and in particular examine relations to theory of mind and uncertainty modelling. The teaching duties are within the courses relevant to machine learning and natural language processing.
Your profile
The candidate must hold or be close to obtaining a master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Computational Linguistics or a related field. Some exposure to Natural Language Processing or Machine Learning is desirable. Excellent programming skills are essential. The candidate should be fluent in English with good writing skills. Knowledge of German is not required.
Our offer
The position is partly funded by Prof. Milica Gasic' DFG project “Curriculum learning in natural language generation” and comes with a competitive salary (EG 13 TV-L), is full-time and carries a modest teaching duty (2 SWS).
The position is initially a one-year fixed-term contract, with the option of extension based on satisfactory performance. It is a qualification position in the sense of the Act of Academic Fixed-Term Contract (Wissenschaftsvertragsgesetz-WissZeitVG), which is to promote the scientific qualification of the employee. The start date is negotiable, but the preferred start would be on 1st October 2026.
