The Stuttgart State Academy of Art and Design (ABK Stuttgart) is characterised by its unique and diverse range of subjects. With 32 workshops and 22 degree programmes in the fields of architecture, design, art, artistic teacher education, conservation, restoration, art studies and aesthetics, the Academy offers around 850 students a diverse range of subjects and research opportunities within the liberal and applied arts. The Academy promotes interdisciplinarity, diversity, and cosmopolitanism. The degree programmes at ABK Stuttgart are characterised by artistic and experimental research approaches, research-based learning in small groups as well as innovative and forward-thinking ideas.

At the Stuttgart State Academy of Art and Design, the position of a

Professor of Architecture and Digital Design (all genders)

(W3 pay grade)
is to be filled as of 1 October 2026 (winter semester 2026/27).

Responsibilities:

• Teaching the theory and practice of digital design and production processes in the master’s programme in Architecture (design studios, seminars) and in the bachelor’s programme in Architecture (imparting fundamental knowledge in lectures and practical design classes)
• Supervising and further developing the Computer Aided Design workshop
• Positioning and further developing the Digital Design department in the Architecture unit
• Designing and developing research projects in the context of an art academy

Requirements:
In addition to the general requirements under public service law, the requirements are based on the provisions of section 47 of the act on the higher education institutions in the Land of Baden-Württemberg (Landeshochschulgesetz, LHG) and specifically include:

• Completed university degree in the field of architecture
• Doctorate or equivalent (proving excellence)
• Teaching experience in the field of digital design
• Visibility of own work that contributes to the discourse on architecture and digitality, for example design-build projects, prototyping, architectural realisations and/or relevant publications

Desired skills:

• Experience in the acquisition and implementation of research projects
• Experience in the acquisition of third-party funding

The professorship is assigned a staff member of the Computer Aided Design workshop (1 position, 100%) and an academic staff member (qualification position, 50%, to be filled).
