At the Faculty of Psychology, we are seeking to appoint, with effect from 1 August 2028, a
University Professorship – W 2
in Developmental Psychology
Applicants are expected to have conducted relevant research in developmental psychology in at least one area aligned with the research clusters of the faculty (Research at the Faculty of Psychology – FernUniversität in Hagen) and the university (Research Clusters – FernUniversität in Hagen).
This research must be evidenced by publications in international peer-reviewed journals. Experience in securing external funding is also expected. In addition to international visibility and collaboration, we also expect adherence to the standards of open and transparent science (open science).
The successful candidate will be required to teach in the faculty-s bachelor-s and master-s degree programs as well as teach courses below the degree program level (micro-credentials). The successful candidate will represent the full scope of the discipline in their teaching. In particular, they will be responsible for teaching developmental psychology in a future bachelor-s program in psychology that will also entail clinical psychology and will be in keeping with professional licensing requirements for psychotherapists in Germany; this will include contributions to developmental psychopathology and developmental assessment. Moreover, we expect a willingness to contribute to the further development of interdisciplinary study programs across the faculties and to participate in academic self-governance.
Teaching at the FernUniversität incorporates modern educational technologies and takes place both digitally and in person. We expect active participation in preparing and implementing innovative teaching and learning formats in accordance with the university-s quality standards. Applicants are required to have German language proficiency at C1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), enabling them to teach effectively in German.
A prerequisite for appointment is a record of academic achievement in accordance with Section 36 of the Higher Education Act of North Rhine-Westphalia (Hochschulgesetz NRW).
