Professor W2 with Tenure-Track W3 (m/f/d) in Theoretical Electrical Engineering

The holder of the position will represent the subject of
Theoretical Electrical Engineering
in research and teaching.The future post holder is expected to be scientifically active in the main research areas:
- Design and application of modern analytical and numerical methods for the computation of electromagnetic fields and waves, including, for example, the use of physics-informed Machine Learning
- Modelling and simulation of complex technical systems, with application potential in plasma research (e.g. technical plasmas, surface treatment with plasmas and lasers, model-based plasma diagnostics)
Teaching is to be provided in theoretical engineering, taught in German and English as part of the compulsory and elective courses of all programs offered by the faculty and the future holder of this position is expected to actively participate in shaping selected study focuses of the faculty.
The position will be filled with a tenure track for the professorship to W3. If the evaluation is positive, the professorship will be in an appropriately simplified procedure without a new announcement. Requirements
Positive evaluation as a junior professor, habilitation or equivalent academic achievement and evidence of special aptitude are just as much required as the willingness to participate in the self-governing bodies of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum and to generally get involved in university processes according to Ruhr-Universität Bochum’s mission statement. The candidate has to meet the appointment requirements according to section 36 ff. Hochschulgesetz NW.
We expect furthermore:
- strong commitment in teaching;
- readiness to participate in interdisciplinary research;
- willingness and proven ability to attract third-party funded research projects;
- international visibility through high-quality publications and research projects;
- a strong commitment and the ability to lead and participate in large-scale collaborative projects.
