Your personal sphere of play:

The group of Prof. Backus at the Institute of Physical Chemistry studies structure and dynamics of molecular processes. We apply static and time-resolved vibrational spectroscopic methods. To strengthen our team, we are looking for a PostDoc for 3 years. The position is dedicated to study with (time-resolved) sum frequency generation spectroscopy the structure and dynamics of water in contact with solid interfaces relevant for understanding catalytic processes. As such, active contribution to research is expected. Independent teaching of courses as defined by the collective agreement and supervision of students during research projects.

Your future tasks:

Active participation in research, teaching & administration, which means: 

• Contributing to research projects and scientific studies in the field of interfacial chemistry and spectroscopy
• International publications and presentations 
• Independently conducting teaching activities and holding courses in accordance with collective agreement provisions.
• Supervision of students.
• Participation in evaluation measures and quality assurance.
• Involvement in administrative tasks in research and teaching.

This is part of your personality:

• PhD in chemistry or physics at the start of the employment
• Experience in sum frequency generation spectroscopy preferable at solid-liquid interfaces
• Experience with aligning and/or building laser setups
• Excellent command of written and spoken English and German
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Publications in renowned, subject-relevant peer-reviewed journals

Fixed-term contract and fair salary: The basic salary of EUR 4.932,90 (on a full-time basis, 14 times a year) for a period of 36  months increases if we can credit professional experience.
