Junior Science Manager

in the area of "Quality Management".

Technical University of Munich (TUM) is committed to the scientific training of junior researchers in science, engineering, life sciences and social sciences. The TUM Graduate School (TUM-GS) promotes the scientific and interdisciplinary qualification of doctoral candidates to the highest international standards. Professional science management develops and organizes the highquality doctoral program and all services. As Junior Science Manager at TUM you will be systematically qualified in our 4-year Science Management Qualification Program (SMQP). This will include on-the-job training as project manager and lecturer in TUMGS seminars as well as a dedicated training program in science management and neighboring fields. Acquitting yourself well in your tasks and successfully completing the SMQP with a certificate will open great career prospects at TUM as well as at leading universities and research institutions around the world.

After an introductory phase, you will take on the following general responsibilities and develop further expertise in:
  • Generating and analyzing statistical data and surveys, developing KPIs in doctoral education;
  • Pursuing best international HE quality standards, e.g. through institutional benchmarking;
  • Establishing and refining quality assurance in the internal processes of TUM-GS;
  • Supporting decision-making bodies and other involved stakeholders of TUM w.r.t. doctoral education;
  • Managing general tasks and services of TUM-GS.
We are looking for applicants with:
  • An excellent Master‘s degree in a relevant academic field;
  • Work experience in quality management, data analysis, statistical methods, quantitative social science or related professional fields;
  • A strong command of IT-based quality tools, methods and processes;
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills in both German and English;
  • Excellent organization and time-management skills, creativity, spontaneity and ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously;
  • A documented interest and experience in international higher education and intercultural settings.
Successful applicants will initially be given a 2-year contract, which is remunerated according to TV-L E13. After passing the interim evaluation, the contract will be extended by two more years. The mutual collaboration of all at the TUM is based on equal opportunities.
