We invite applications for an Assistant Professor (Akademischer Rat / A 13) position at the Chair of Animal Ecology I (Prof. Dr. Christian Laforsch), Faculty of Biology, Chemistry & Earth Sciences, University of Bayreuth.
This young international research team focusses on aquatic animal ecology, in particular on the phenomenon of phenotypic plasticity and the adaptation of animals to altered biotic and abiotic conditions (
http://www.bayceer.uni-bayreuth.de/toek1/de/top/gru/html.php?id_obj=129167). The spectrum of both marine and limnic model organisms ranges from protozoa to vertebrates, with a focus on the model organism Daphnia (water flea).
We offer an inspiring and stimulating research environment with state-of-the-art laboratories and techniques. The candidate has the option to acquire a "Habilitation".
We are seeking a highly motivated, team-oriented young researcher with a strong background in aquatic animal ecology. Knowledge on the main model organism Daphnia is advantageous. Candidates must hold a PhD and is preferred.
The successful candidate should have an excellent publication record. Experience with grant acquisition is advantageous. The position comes with a teaching requirement of 5 hours per week during the semester and the candidate is expected to supervise undergraduate as well as graduate students. The candidate should share the enthusiasm for teaching zoology and ecology. Teaching of undergraduate students must be performed in German.
