The Faculty of Physics at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen invites applications for the position of
Associate Professor (Tenure Track)
(W2 t.t. W2) for Theoretical Cosmology
This professorship is funded by the German Federal and State governments through the programme “Bund-Länder-Programms zur
Förderung des wissenschaftlichen Nachwuchses (Nachwuchspakt)”. The initial appointment will be limited to five years. The
transition to the permanent position of Associate Professor (W2) takes effect following a successful evaluation.
The successful candidate is expected to sustain a strong research programme in particle cosmology. The candidate should have an
outstanding record of internationally recognized research accomplishments in axion cosmology, including research on dark matter
models with QCD axions as well as ultralight axions. The research topics of the candidate should cover various methods for detecting
or constraining axion‐like particles, including astronomical observations and novel experimental approaches, from the perspective
of theoretical physics.
We expect a strong commitment to existing and future collaborative initiatives on the Göttingen Campus. The Faculty of Physics offers
a stimulating research and teaching environment with excellent on‐site infrastructure.
An appropriate contribution to teaching at the Faculty on all levels (Bachelor, Master, PhD) is expected.
