at Helmholtz Zentrum München

to be appointed as soon as possible. The position is a tenured W3 position.
Scientific environment
The professorship belongs to the TUM Department of Informatics and its future holder will be appointed professor under the terms of a private-law contract and will be granted leave of absence in order to lead the Institute of Bioinformatics and Systems Biology at HMGU based on an employment agreement under private law.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of young scientists. We seek to appoint an expert in the research area of Computational Biology, esp. Computational Genomics with a focus on -omics data integration. The further development of bioinformatics is expected for large-scale projects, especially in humans and also for cellbased approaches, as well as the development of innovative solution approaches for efficient data processing, management of big data (large-scale sequencing and other -omics technologies), and for integrating complex data. The teaching load includes courses in the university’s bachelor and master programs.
Qualifications
We are looking for a candidate with an excellent international reputation who has demonstrated an out-standing academic record and an internationally recognized research program. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification as well as pedagogical aptitude, including the ability to teach in English, are also prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad is expected.
