The
University of Potsdam invites applications for the following professorship:
At the
Faculty of HumanScience, Research Focus Educational Sciences for a
Full Professorship (W 3)
for Music Education and Didactics
to be filled immediately. The successful candidate will have broad experience in
teaching professional and didactic foundations of music instruction, in the application
and the development of innovative learning environments, primarily for the
secondary school level as well as for academic teaching. Responsibilities include
representing the field in teaching and research, the implementation of courses
for specialized content and teaching methodologies, the development of class
projects for students of musical education at schools as well as the supervision
of theses.
Contributions to empirical or theoretical research on teaching and learning in
the field of music education and didactics are expected. Relevant publications,
preferably in peer-reviewed journals, and the participation in interdisciplinary research
projects at the intersection of educational and musical science as well
as teacher education are required. Experience with the acquisition of external
funding, international networking and interdisciplinary cooperation is desired.
The University of Potsdam views the networking of scholarly research and
teaching in the education of teachers as a particular challenge. The holder of the
position must be able to adequately represent both fields.
The University of Potsdam has a distinguished teacher education program that
acknowledges the realities of school and instruction while also incorporating the
latest research findings in the field, and has a high proportion of practical exercises.
The "Potsdam Model" of teacher education should be further developed in
a dedicated way together with other professorships relevant to teacher training at
the University of Potsdam and in cooperation with the Center for Teacher Training
and Education Research. We expect a willingness to cooperate in continuing
teacher education and an interest in cross-faculty collaboration.
The hiring process is subject to the requirements set forth in Section 41
of the Brandenburg Higher Education Act (BbgHG). The appointment procedure
shall be conducted in accordance with Section 40 BbgHG.
