Our interdisciplinary and active team is seeking to fill two positions with talented and highly motivated PhD candidates with special interest in super-resolution microscopy and/or electrophysiology.
The Section of Translational Neuroimmunology is currently established by the Schilling Foundation and Jena University Hospital and is further funded by the CRC/TR 166 ReceptorLight (DFG),
the BMBF, and the EU. Our special research interests are basic pathomechanisms of synaptic changes underlying autoimmune disorders of the central nervous system.
For analysis of immune-mediated changes of central synapses we are investigating interactions of pathogenic human antibodies with neuronal proteins or long-term effects of severe
systemic inflammation (sepsis) on neuronal networks. In these projects we apply super-resolution microscopy (e.g. dSTORM and structured illumination microscopy) and electrophysiological
analyses (e.g. patch-clamp and extracellular recordings). Projects include experiments in primary neurons and brain slices and may also extend to behavioral studies in different animal models.
We welcome applications from candidates fulfilling the following criteria:
Post-graduate candidates in neurosciences, biology or related natural sciences
Special interest in neurosciences and high-end microscopy and/or electrophysiology
Very good language proficiency in English
Candidates with a high level of motivation and enthusiasm and excellent communication and teamwork skills
Interested candidates should submit the following documents:
