Postdoctoral Position in Sociology
(Full-time position, E 13 TV-L)
Reference No. 2023/113. The start date is October 1st, 2023 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is available until September 30th, 2025. In principle, the position can be divided into two part-time positions. The University of Konstanz is one of eleven Universities of Excellence in Germany. Since 2007 it has been successful in the German Excellence Initiative and its follow-up program, the Excellence Strategy. In the Department of Sociology, we are seeking a postdoctoral researcher interested in exploring inequalities in health and gender. The successful candidate will work with half of the working time in a social and health science research project (MoMo 2.0) with Prof. Hinz to investigate how social inequality affects health behaviors in children and adolescents. With the other half of the working time, the successful candidate will work in the research group of Prof. Strauss with the possibility of participating in further research projects on gender inequalities.
Your Responsibilities
- Research in the interdisciplinary joint project MoMo 2.0 funded by the Federal Ministry of Health
- Presentation of research results at (inter)national conferences
- Collaboration on publications relevant to the project
- Teaching one course per semester in the field of gender inequalities
Your Competencies
- Completed (or nearly completed) PhD in sociology or another social science
- Very good knowledge of quantitative methods of empirical social research
- Very good knowledge of a statistical program (esp. Stata)
- Experience in publishing research results
- Very good knowledge of English is desirable
