For Research Department III – Transformation Pathways – PIK is offering a
in the field of energy systems modeling for transport decarbonization pathways, starting preferably in August 2024.
This position focuses on the refined modeling of the transport transition in the context of the decarbonization of global energy systems.
How can transport systems be transformed in line with national and international climate neutrality goals? What is the role of the transport sector in an integrated energy systems context? Which technologies will prevail and what infrastructure will be needed and when? What are suitable policy approaches for the transport transition? If these questions pique your interest and if you enjoy collaborative programming in an international team, this position is right for you.
As a valuable member of our team, your task is to further advance our detailed transport model (EDGE-Transport). The model represents national and international passenger and freight transport and is coupled to the REMIND model, one of the world’s leading global integrated energy-economy climate models.
We encourage candidates at the postdoc level to apply. Filling the position as a scientific researcher with a successfully completed university degree (Master, Diploma or equivalent) is equally possible.
The position is initially funded for two years. Extensions are envisaged and rely on new external funding. Remuneration is in accordance with the German public tariff scheme (TV-L Brandenburg), salary group E 13 This is a full-time position with a weekly working time of 40 hours per week. The position can be filled on a part-time basis.
