The Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine (MDC) is a member of the Helmholtz Association of National Research Centers,
supported by the Federal Government of Germany and the Senate of Berlin. It is dedicated to interdisciplinary biomedical
research with the aim to translate basic research findings into clinical applications. MDC researchers collaborate with
Berlin based research and medical institutions as well as leading international partner institutions. The Berlin Institute
for Medical Systems Biology (BIMSB) is a young new program at the MDC, where researchers specifically focus on gene regulatory
mechanisms, supported by ’omics’-technologies, computational methodologies and interdisciplinary interaction. The program will
increase in size of currently 17 to 25 research groups, including platforms; and it will move in 2018 to a new research building
in the center of Berlin.
We are looking for a
Project Manager in Life Science (m/f) (Reg.-no. 10845/2017)
The Project Manager will report to Prof. Nikolaus Rajewsky will work closely with the participating MDC/BIMSB scientists and BIMSB
Management. He/she will be responsible for building and maintaining the Single Cell Genomics (SCG) Germany Network, a national network of leading single cell researchers.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
organization of symposia, workshops and informal meetings between researchers of the network
communication with participating infrastructures and users
representation of German researchers within the Human Cell Atlas Initiative; communication with international researchers involved in the Human Cell Atlas
identification of funding opportunities; assistance in application, coordination and reporting of program-specific grants
coordination of joint grant applications of the network (for example for a DFG priority program, a EU FET flagship, the Chan-Zuckerberg-Initiative)
interfacing between scientific and administrative actions to support researchers within the network; liaising with scientists, administration and external partners
creation of content for and establishment of a website of the SCG network
Applicants must have a degree in life sciences or medicine. A PhD in life sciences with experience in single cell genomics and working in a
high-paced professional setting is expected. Professional experience in the area of science management and/or communication, preferentially
on a European level, would be of advantage. Further requirements are:
excellent organizational, writing and communication skills
professional command of both spoken and written German and English
knowledge of major national and EU funding instruments and experience in grant writing
experience of working for international research institutions and ability to effectively interact with multiple stakeholders on international and interdisciplinary levels would be helpful
motivation and interpersonal skills to interact with researchers and administrative staff; ability to move between the scientific and managerial level
passion for science, self-motivation, pro-active attitude, responsible and independent project handling
effective multi-tasking and the ability to work with tight deadlines are a must
E 14 TVöD/Bund
The contract will be offered for two years with the possibility of extension.
