Project Manager in Life Science Research Infrastructures
Description:
The Scientific Infrastructure Management at the MDC is seeking a Project Manager to join and coordinate the MDC's activities of the EC-funded project CORBEL, (COordinated Research infrastructure Building Enduring Life science services;
www.corbel-project.eu). CORBEL aims to establish an operational framework of shared services for European scientists between existing European Research Infrastructures of the ESFRI Biological and Medical Science Group (BMS RI;
www.esfri.eu), including the Infrastructure for Systems Biology in Europe (ISBE). The CORBEL consortium consists of 37 European partners from 13 BMS RIs. The MDC and EMBL co-manage the "Community-driven cross-infrastructure joint research - Biosciences" which includes to launch open calls and support scientific pilot projects (WP4) interconnecting scientific infrastructures across the network: academic and industrial scientists in Europe are offered access to more than 20 service providers from 10 research infrastructures to drive the development of interfaces between scientific services and to establish transnational interaction and access. The tasks of the project manager will be:
- key contact for and coordination of CORBEL Open Call projects
- administrative project support, including cost calculations and reporting
- support of grant applications
- scientific presentations at workshops and conferences
- event organization
Requirements:
Applicants should have a degree in life sciences or medicine. Professional experience in the area of science and project management and communication would be of advantage. Further requirements are:
- excellent organizational, writing and communication skills
- professional command of both spoken and written English, good knowledge of German and/or a third European language would be a significant advantage
- knowledge of major national and EU funding instruments and experience in grant writing
- experience of working for international research institutions and ability to effectively interact with multiple stakeholders on international and interdisciplinary levels would be helpful
- motivation and interpersonal skills to interact with researchers and administrative staff
- passion for science, self-motivation, pro-active attitude, responsible and independent project management
- effective multi-tasking and the ability to work with tight deadlines are a must
Current project funding until May 2020; follow-up projects for extension are underway. Salary is according to the German E 13 TVöD/Bund, full or part time.
