Research Assistant / PhD candidate (f/m) Physics, Mathematics or Electrical Engineering
The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science,
Computational Electronics and Photonics (Prof. Dr. sc. tech. Bernd
Witzigmann) offers as soon as possible the following position:
Research Assistant / PhD candidate (EG 13 TV-H) temporary employment, part-time position (currently 30 hours a week)
with 75% of working hours of a full-time employee. The contract
will be for initially 1,5 years with the possibility of extension
(§ 2 Abs. 1 WissZeitVG) and the possibility to do a PhD.
In the context of a DFG funded project we perform research on
the application of novel materials (e.g. graphene) for electronics
and photonics devices. We apply physics-based numerical
models to investigate the device properties of transistors and
light emitting diodes, and to derive novel structures.
The successful candidate will implement simulation models
describing the electronic and optical material properties.
These properties are imported into a finite element based
electromagnetic and electron transport model. Finally, devices
with superiot or novel properties shall be designed in close
collaboration with partners working in the field of technology
development. The experimental results obtained from detailed
measurements will be analyzed using the simulation models.
We offer an attractive position with the possibility to attend
international conferences, publish in scientific journals, and
optionally participate in project management and teaching
activities. Our research partners in industry and academia enable
the candidate to build an extensive network, and we have access
to latest technologies and devices.
Master or Diploma in physics, mathematics or electrical engineering.
Knowledge in electromagnetic theory, numerical modeling, and
software development. The position qualifies for obtaining a PhD.
The University of Kassel is an equal opportunity employer and aims at a clear increase of the proportion
