Job description:
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled researcher to join our dynamic research team as a PhD candidate. The successful candidate will work on a project that aims to investigate the molecular mechanisms involved in cross-membrane substrate translocation using a combination of experimental and computational techniques. The candidate will establish and conduct experiments using time-resolved electron spin resonance spectroscopy techniques to study equilibrium dynamics of membrane transport protein complexes, which are targets for novel antibiotics. She/He will develop and implement kinetic model(s) to interpret experimental observations and collaborate with external groups to integrate experimental and computational data to develop a comprehensive biophysical understanding of membrane transport mechanisms. The candidate is expected to present results at national and international scientific conferences and publish in peer-reviewed journals. There will be the opportunity to assist in teaching Physics lectures and laboratory courses. The candidate may be required to obtain additional qualifications as deemed appropriate to obtain a PhD degree in Physics.
Requirements:
Completed a Master degree or equivalent in Physics, Biophysics, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field.
(Professional) Experience:
A background in pulsed electron spin resonance spectroscopy or protein expression and purification and willingness to learn the other one is desired. The experience with time-resolved spectroscopy or kinetic modeling of biomolecular processes is beneficial. Excellent communication skills in English and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
