The Department of Management at Aarhus BSS, Aarhus University, invites applications for a senior researcher position in the field of marketing and consumer behaviour.
The senior researcher position is a full-time and 5-year position starting on January 1, 2020 or as soon as possible subject to mutual agreement. The position is linked
to the MAPP Centre, which conducts research on value creation in the food sector. The MAPP Centre is a world-class research Centre working with questions on consumer behaviour
in relation to food and beverages as well as the implications of insight into consumer behaviour for both industry and public policy (for more information see
The position is financed by various external grants for research projects dealing with consumer behavior, mostly in relation to food, with a view towards applications in industry and public policy. This can include questions about consumer decision-making, in-store behavior, consumer motivation and lifestyle. Healthy and sustainable choices are a recurrent theme in the research.
The position is mainly focused on research, and tasks include systematic and independent implementation of a range of research projects in cooperation with relevant local, national and international collaborators. This involves design of both qualitative and quantitative studies, development of appropriate theoretical basis, as well as preparation, publication and presentation of results at international conferences and in peer-reviewed scientific articles. Furthermore, the position will include administrative tasks in connection to the acquisition of external grants and their implementation once funding has been obtained.
The applicant must have a Master's degree and a PhD relevant to the academic areas of the Department of Management and the MAPP Centre, preferably in marketing and/or psychology.
Applicants must have research experience in the area of consumer behaviour. Expertise in both quantitative and qualitative methods, survey research, non-verbal methods and experimental design are a plus. Good proficiency in the use of statistical software is a requirement.
Applicants must possess research qualifications corresponding to those obtained after successful completion of a period of employment as an assistant professor or postdoc, equivalent to what is expected when applying for tenure as an associate professor. Applicants are expected to have a well-documented international research profile with emphasis on innovative contributions in high standard, peer-reviewed publications:
The applicant must have produced and published research in addition to the PhD thesis, and must demonstrate progression in the form of research publications that go beyond the PhD thesis, either thematically, theoretically, methodologically and/or empirically.
Publications should be published in international journals. Publications in high impact journals carry great weight.
Emphasis will be put on current and recent productivity and take into account the number of years at present academic level.
Applicants must demonstrate the capacity to carry out independent research. In reviewing applicants emphasis will therefore be on publications where the contribution of the applicant is substantial, as evidenced by first authorship and through co-authorship declarations.
In terms of evaluating the qualitative aspects of an applicant's research competences, focus is on the publications submitted for assessment.
Applicants must have some experience in working in externally funded research projects, preferably both national and international, and in working together with other researchers both in the same discipline and in inter-disciplinary cooperation. Applicants must have good communication skills and must have the ability to work as part of a team.
Permanent employment as senior researcher at
Aarhus BSS requires completion of the
supervision course as well as the
Blended Learning - Go Online course provided by Centre for Teaching and Learning at Aarhus BSS. If you have not completed the courses prior to employment, continued employment will be conditional on completion of the courses within a five-year period.
