In vitro disease models represent the earliest stage of wet-lab-based preclinical research. In oncology, traditional disease models comprise patient-derived systems. However, recent research has challenged the suitability of such classical models for chemo therapy prediction studies. Alternative donor-derived in vitro disease models with elevated genetic circumscription are considered to putatively be more suitable for physiological relevant target discovery and therapy testing in high-throughput.
The Department of Preclinical Research at the Neurosurgical Clinical of the Heinrich-Heine University, Düsseldorf, Germany is looking for a motivated candidate
to fill a position to develop targeted transformation strategies in pluripotent cells (particularly human induced pluripotent stem cells as well as human fetal-derived
neural stem cells, summarized as pluripotent cells, PC). Specifically, the establishment of efficient base correction assays to introduce point mutations as
physiological relevant onco-disease models is envisioned. The candidate will be guided on the technology level by international and national leading experts
in base corrector technology including on-site visits, regular data discussion etc. The ultimate goal is to validate those based-corrected cell systems in
terms of acquisition of pathophysiological relevant tumorigenicity as well as chemo therapy resistance profiles compared to classical disease models as well
as to overexpression/gene KD-mediated PC-based disease models. The position is funded through the High-tech Strategy of the Federal Ministry of Education and
Research (BMBF, https://www.validierungsfoerderung.de/validierungsprojekte/discover) and thereafter through alternative sources (total of 3 years minimum,
