The research group `Molecular Nutrition´ at the Department of Nutritional Sciences is looking for support in interdisciplinary research projects in the thematic field "Sugar-induced intestinal barrier dysfunction and endotoxemia". We are a young and interdisciplinary research team working at the interfaces between nutrition and the development of metabolic diseases. We build on a good working atmosphere, close collaboration with our students and self-dependent involvement and co-ordination of research projects. Duration of contract: 4 years
You will be responsible for the conceptualisation, co-ordination and supervision of human intervention studies focusing on molecular mechanism involved in the development of nutrition-induced intestinal barrier dysfunction. In particular, mechanisms involved in development of sugar-induced intestinal barrier dysfunction leading to specific alterations of liver function and the dietary prevention of these dysfunctions are the focus of your research. Participation in paper writing and publication is expected. In addition, you are involved in teaching within the requirements of the collective agreement. The position is intended to lead to a PhD degree typically in form of a thesis by publication. We expect the successful candidate to sign a doctoral thesis agreement within 12-18 months. Involvement in the organisation of meetings, conferences, symposiums - Involvement in the department administration as well as in teaching and research administration
Your qualification - postgraduate degree in nutritional sciences with excellent grades - ability to communicate in both German and English (good knowledge) - lifely interest in science - experience in research projects, ideally methodological experience in human dietary intervention studies and tissue and blood analysis e.g. ELISA - ability to work in highly dynamic research teams, high interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills, ability to work under pressure, ability to work independently, and a high level of motivation.
